Loretta Lynch - Attorney General nominee

Freshman Sen. David Perdue says he will vote against President Obama’s nominee for Attorney General.

The freshman Republican sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will vote on Loretta Lynch’s nomination in the coming weeks.

In a statement, Perdue says Lynch has an impressive resume. But he says, "I am not confident she will defend the Constitution, especially when the President seeks to abuse his power."

"We need an Attorney General who will maintain independence and will put the law above partisan politics," he further states.

Perdue says he disagrees with Lynch supporting the President's executive action on immigration.

Other Republicans on the committee, including its chairman, have not said how they will vote on Lynch’s nomination.
