David Perdue at Macon forum

A freshman senator from Georgia has been chosen to lead Senate Agriculture and Foreign Relations subcommittees.

Republican Sen. David Perdue has been named chairman of the Subcommittee on State Department and USAID Management, International Operations, and Bilateral International Development.

The subcommittee responsible for overseeing the operations and budget of the State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development. Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine is a ranking member of the nine-member subcommittee, which also includes Georgia Republican Johnny Isakson.

Perdue has also been named as chairman of the Subcommittee on Conservation, Forestry and Natural Resources.
