WSB-TV is reporting that police in Central Georgia have found two bodies – thought to be that of a missing Cobb County couple.

Elrey “Bud” Runion had advertised on Craigslist looking for a 1966 Mustang. He and his wife June drove to McRae Georgia in Telfair County to meet someone who responded to their ad.

Earlier today, 28-year-old Ronnie “Jay” Towns turned himself in. Towns was the last person to talk to the couple via phone before they disappeared.

WSB reports local law enforcement found the Runion’s car in a pond near Jacksonville, Georgia.

The Associated Press reports that Towns was charged with giving false statements and criminal attempt to commit theft by deception earlier today.

WSB reports that he has not yet formally charged in the couple’s death.

This story is developing. We'll bring updates online and on gpb.org/radio.
