West Ridge Church

Funeral plans have been set for a sheriff's officer killed in a murder-suicide at his home in the Hiram area.

The Paulding County Sheriff's Office said the funeral for Cpl. Sam Driskell will be at 11 a.m. Monday at West Ridge Church in Dallas, Georgia.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is speaking with relatives, friends and neighbors to determine what may have prompted the shooting.

Sheriff's spokesman Ashley Henson says authorities suspect that Driskell's 21-year-old stepson, Felix Almonte, shot Driskell, his 36-year-old wife and their 12-year-old daughter between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Henson says Sam Driskell was shot in his sleep. Driskell's wife was shot in a doorway between the living room and their daughter's room. Henson says the girl was also shot in her sleep before Almonte shot himself.
