Georgia Aquarium Names New Executive VP And COO

Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta has announced the selection of a new executive vice president and chief operating officer.
The aquarium said in a news release Wednesday that Mark Schafer is stepping into the role effective immediately. He has served as chief financial officer and senior vice president at the aquarium since July 2013.
Schafer previously spent 16 years at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, where he was a director of finance. He began his career at SeaWorld Orlando where he was also director of finance and also held other positions over a 10-year period.
Schafer replaces David Kimmel as chief operating officer. Kimmel stepped down in October.
