Ugly Christmas Sweater/theuglysweatershop.com

Anna Chandler, Arts and Entertainment Editor for Connect Savannah, and Jim Reed, Director of the Psychotronic Film Society, offer up some ways to enjoy the holidays in and around Savannah.

Anna’s picks:

-Celebrate with some of Savannah’s best vocalists at the Cool Yule Christmas Cabaret at the Lucas Theatre. Sit right on stage with the acts as you hear great holiday tunes from Roger Moss, Trae Gurley, Natasha Drena and Cecilia Arango - with Trinity United Methodist Church’s Jared Hall on piano. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.; $25

-Jam out local-style with the fourth annual Homegrown Holiday Hoedown on Friday at the American Legion Ballroom. Train Wrecks and the Accomplices host with guests Soap - and they’ve promised at least one holiday jam session as part of the night of good music. Friday, 7 p.m.; $15 in advance, $20 at the door

-Rock out to some beautiful music in hideous clothes at Feather and Freight’s Superbad Christmas Sweater Jam on Saturday. The newly-opened River Street bar will host American Hologram, City Hotel and COEDS and an ugly sweater contest. Saturday, 9 p.m.; $5 with a canned good

Jim’s picks:

-Take a break from the holiday rush at the Sentient Bean on Sunday with an early anti-commercialist offering from TV legend Rod Serling. Serling’s little-known TV movie Patterns predates his famed work on the Twilight Zone. Sunday, 8 p.m.; $7

-If you’re up for some metal - and a bit of mystery - on Christmas Eve, check out UFO tribute band Project Blue Book at The Metal Hut in Port Wentworth. The venue is just what it sounds like - a corrugated metal hut that offers up periodic metal shows. Rock out while you wait for Santa, if you can track down the show.

-Bring some homegrown entertainment right in your home with the latest project from the creator of the Moth Radio Hour. It’s called Sudden Owl, and it collects stories told in just one minute.
