Gingerbread/Savannah Harbor Foundation

Molly Swagler of Savannah’s Tourism Leadership Council and Siobhan Egan of Paprika Southern share fun ways to celebrate the season in Savannah this weekend.

Molly’s picks:

-Enjoy a fun and festive light show at the Savannah Harbor Foundation Festival of Lights & Winter Carnival. Drive through the light show on Hutchinson Island, ride a Ferris Wheel and in Bryan Square and check out the Gingerbread Village. And most important of all: take photos with Santa. Thursdays through Sundays 6-10 p.m.; $20

-Enjoy an afternoon or evening of ice skating under the dazzling lights of the Civic Center. Skatefest 2014 begins Friday and runs most days through Jan. 3. Full schedule here; $7 to skate, includes skate rental

-See the Savannah Theatre transformed into a holiday perfect picture with A Christmas Tradition running all season long. The show shares memories of the Christmas standards that you know and love and sprinkles in a little comedy and plenty of audience participation. Full schedule and tickets here; $35 + tax adults, $17 + tax children

-Peek inside the beautiful homes of downtown Savannah all done up for the holidays with the Downtown Neighborhood Association’s 40th annual Holiday Tour of Homes on Saturday. There will be an afternoon tour and an evening tour with different homes featured on each. After the tour, warm up with tea at the Massie Heritage Center or a Hot Toddy Tasting and "Powerful Punches" Exhibit at the Savannah History Museum. Saturday, Afternoon Tour: 11:00 a.m.-3 p.m., Evening Tour: 5-8 p.m.; $25-$40.

-That Holiday Tea at the Massie Heritage Center includes costumed history interpreters recounting the end of the Civil War. Guests will be free to enjoy the exhibits at the Massie Heritage Center. Saturday, 3-4 p.m. and 4 -5 p.m.; $25.

Siobhan’s picks:

-Get your holiday shopping done the local way with Merry Maker Holiday Market, presented by Craft Scout. Find unique gifts from tons of local vendors at the American Legion Ballroom. Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; free

-Conspire with Santa or get your wrapping done Saturday while your kids enjoy some holiday fun at Scribble Art Studio. They can create a one-of-a-kind piece of art and decorate a frame for it at Dick Blick art supplies, or enjoy a Christmas movie and art extravaganza in Pooler. At that event they can create art, make ornaments, and decorate cookies. Saturday, downtown 1-3 p.m., Pooler 6-9 p.m.; $35
