Kennesaw City Hall

The Kennesaw City Council is scheduled to discuss whether to reconsider an application for a mosque in a shopping center.

A city spokesman says there won’t be a vote Wednesday – that would likely come Monday night.

Even if council members approve it this time, an attorney for the Muslim congregation says he’ll press on with a lawsuit against the city.

Doug Dillard says the city council’s initial vote to deny permits for the mosque was unconstitutional and arbitrary. In an interview, Kennesaw Mayor Mark Matthews told GPB Political Rewind host Bill Nigut that the council should reconsider their decision to reject the group's application.
