Military officials say they're competing with private companies for workers to staff the Army Cyber Command, but are also looking to the private sector for workforce management guidance.

Lt. Gen. Edward Cardon tells the Augusta Chronicle the technological defense center is expected to launch by 2019 at a National Security Agency facility at Fort Gordon.

Cardon says the military can't wait to recruit staff because some positions may take up to 18 months of training.

Cardon says military officials are looking to have staff for the cyber command assigned by 2016 and he's talked with representatives from Google, Microsoft and Amazon about how to manage workers who must keep up with rapid changes in technology.
Cardon says military officials hope to have cyber command staff assigned by next summer.
