GABBAfest 2014
The Georgia Allman Brothers Band Association, which is known as GABBA for short, has been producing a festival in Macon since 1992. They aren’t affiliated with the band or the museum. However, they coordinate this festival in an effort to fund almost anything associated with the Allman Brothers Band, from the Capricorn Studio to the Rose Hill Cemetery. This year’s theme is “In the Footsteps of Duane Allman.” The presenting venue for this year’s festival is The 567 Center for Renewal. On September 26, the program starts off with Freddy's Finest and the Decoys. The next night features Window Plane and the Jack Pearson Band. Although Lamar Williams, Jr. will not be performing at the presenting venue, brotherly love will be spread as he performs at The Hummingbird on the night of September 27. Weekend tickets can be purchased for $45. For more information, log onto www.gabba.org.

Second Annual One City Art Festival
Nine different art organizations have collaborated to host the 2014 One City Art Festival. This year marks the second time this event has taken place. The One City Art Festival displays how Macon’s community has evolved for the best when it comes to the visual arts discipline. Middle Georgia State College is the principal supporter of this festival. The nine art organizations are the Macon Arts Alliance, Macon-Bibb Parks and Recreation, Macon Film Festival, The 567 Center for Renewal, Tubman African American Museum, Middle Georgia Arts Association, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Contemporary Arts Exchange and GA Art Education Association. Each one of these entities are vital arteries to the heartbeat of Macon’s visual art community. The 2nd Annual One City Art Festival starts October 2nd ends October 6. On the initial day, the GA Art Education Association kicks off the festivities with a party in two spots on Cherry Street; one location is The 567 Center for Renewal and the other one is Travis Jean. Historic Macon Foundation's Flea Market
This year marks the 37th year that Historic Macon has held this flea market. They also have a new location for it on 536 Third Street in the old Karten & Denson building. Trust me, it's not typical, when it comes to the variety of quality items which can be purchased. Just imagine if the items from some of our most beautiful historic buildings and homes were available for you to access. The Historic Macon Foundation Flea market takes place on October 4 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., and there is no charge to enter. Now, if you would like to get first dibs on these rare and unique items for sale, you can go to the Preview Party on October 3 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. There is a charge on this day because you will be treated like a VIP with dinner and wine, as you are allowed to browse through the flea market items before the general public. Admission to the Preview Party is $20 for members of the Historic Macon Foundation and $25 for non-members. To find out more about the Historic Macon Foundation, log onto www.historicmacon.org.
