For music fans, it will be a big weekend of Americana shows:
-This week’s Thursday Night Opry will feature Waits & Co., Damon and the Kickers and Paving Gravy at Trinity United Methodist Church. 7 p.m. Thursday; $10 suggested donation.
-Friday night, City Hotel and Rolling Nowhere will play the Jinx. 10 p.m. Friday; cover charge TBD.
-The Accomplices are throwing an album release party at Southbound Brewery Friday, featuring a signature brew named for one of the band’s new tracks. 7-10 p.m. Saturday; $15-20 including album copy, food, signature pint glass.
For the dog-oriented, pups of all shapes and sizes will fly after frisbees Saturday and Sunday in the Hyperflite Skyhoundz Canine Disc Championship Qualifier in Pooler. 9 a.m.-5 pm. Saturday and Sunday; free for spectators.
For families. there are plenty of kid-friendly events in the area:
-The River Street Armed Forces Festival will feature arts and crafts and patriotic entertainment for Memorial Day. All day Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
-Visitors can experience the daily lives of soldiers stationed at Old Fort Jackson from the American Revolution through the Civil War during their Century of Sentries event. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday; $7 for adults, $4 for children.
-Kids can learn about bugs (and other fun nature facts) at the Savannah Children’s Museum’s BugFest Saturday through Monday - and parents might want to get in on the Savannah Bee Company raffle. Beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
For those headed to the beach, there’s more than sun and sand:
-The Tybee Arts Association will host an art show and sale near the lighthouse Saturday and Sunday. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
