Savannah Police Looking For People Involved In River Street Fight

Updated: 7 months ago.
Savannah police have released surveillance footage from an incident Saturday night. They say it appears to be an altercation between two groups of people.

Savannah police are asking for help finding several people involved in a fight in a busy tourist area over the weekend.

The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department has posted video footage on its Facebook page of the incident Saturday night on River Street.

Police say they’re continuing to collect and review video of what appears to be a fight between be two groups of people.

In a Facebook post, Jim Thomas of Atlanta describes the event as an “unwarranted, viciously brutal attack” on his family, including children. Thomas criticizes what he describes as a lack of police presence in the area.

In a statement, a Savannah police spokesman says detectives hope members of the second group involved in the fight will come forward to provide their version of events.

The statement says the video does not appear to include any evidence of the children being assaulted.
