Big Earthquakes Rare, But Possible, Along Georgia Coast

SAVANNAH, Ga.  —   A pair of small earthquakes - the largest measuring at 4.1 magnitude - recently struck South Carolina, sending waves through surrounding states.

No one was injured, but we wanted to know if we should expect more of this along the Georgia coast.

Geophysicist John Bellini of the National Earthquake Information Center tells GPB's Sarah McCammon that residents of coastal Georgia should be prepared for quakes, even though major ones are rare.
