Officials say Georgia's state parks are accommodating some of the campers who had planned on visiting parks operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The Corps operates several parks on Lake Lanier, just northeast of Atlanta. Those parks have been closed due to the partial government shutdown.

State officials say there are plenty of campsites, cabins and yurts available for those who had planned on camping in federal parks and need to modify travel plans this weekend and in the future.

The state parks are operated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and remain open.
