Mercer University football will hope to remain undefeated in their third game this Saturday in Macon.
They’ll take on Berry College, another startup program. The school just outside Rome is in its first year of practice and games, while Mercer has a whole year of practice and workouts under its belt.
The Vikings failed to score in their seasoning opening 37-0 defeat against Maryville College, but they won 37-27 against LaGrange’s JV squad last week.
Mercer is coming off a decisive win over Warner University, winning 61-0 last Saturday in front of a capacity crowd of over 10,000 fans. The Bears are ranked among the top FCS teams in the country now, coming in third in rushing yards, scoring offense, and first downs.
Mercer remains the only undefeated Pioneer League team and will begin conference play next week. Kickoff against Berry is at 6 p.m.
