Authorities say a DeKalb County police officer has been arrested in connection with an investigation into a drug trafficking ring.

DeKalb Police Chief Cedric Alexander says William Miguel was arrested Friday as he came to work on a charge of conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine.

Authorities say Miguel has been place on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Police say Miguel is 43 years old and has been with the department for 11 years.

The chief says Miguel's role in the trafficking operation is unclear and the investigation continues. A home telephone number for Miguel could not be found, and it was not immediately known whether he had hired an attorney.
