The Atlanta BeltLine project has received an $18 million grant from the federal government.

The office of Rep. John Lewis says the congressman has been notified of the grant, which will provide for construction of two miles of the Atlanta BeltLine.

The BeltLine is a $2.8 billion plan to transform a 22-mile railroad corridor that encircles Atlanta into a network of trails, parks, affordable homes and ultimately streetcar lines.
