Officials in a south Georgia county say a public health building has been closed because of concerns over mold and mildew.

Southeast Health District spokesman Roger Naylor said an Atkinson County Health Department employee in Pearson told authorities mold and mildew was growing around desks and in some of the building's rooms.

The county commission decided to close the building earlier this week and will not reopen it until the problem is resolved.

Pearson is about 45 miles northeast of Valdosta.
