Gilmer County authorities are accepting donations to help the victims of recent flash floods.

Georgia Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Crystal Paulk-Buchanan said donated goods can be dropped off at Gilmer Fire Station 1 in East Ellijay.

She said the biggest demand is for cleaning supplies, including mops, brooms, buckets, trash bags and gloves. She said residents also need wooden studs, sheet rock insulation, hammers, tarps and plywood.

Four homes were destroyed and 28 others received major damage in Thursday's flooding.
