Barrow Unveils School Safety Proposal

Democratic U.S. Rep. John Barrow is planning to announce legislation he's introduced to help bolster school security.

Barrow is scheduled to speak alongside Executive Director of the Georgia Sheriffs' Association, J. Terry Norris, Superintendent of the Richmond County Board of Education, Frank Roberson, and others during a press conference Monday morning at the Richmond County Board of Education in Augusta.

Barrow on Friday introduced a proposal to reauthorize a matching grant program to increase school security under the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968. The proposal has been referred to the House judiciary committee.

Barrow represents Georgia's 12th district, which includes 19 counties in the southeastern region of the state.
