The Georgia National Cemetery is gearing up to honor all military members who have served the country or are currently deployed.

The Memorial Day program is scheduled for Saturday at the cemetery in Canton — about 45 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.

Cemetery Director Margaret Helgerson says the ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 am. Organizers say Maj. Gen. James Butterworth, of the Georgia National Guard is slated as the program's keynote speaker.

Butterworth reports to Gov. Nathan Deal and is responsible for 15,000 personnel in the Georgia Army National Guard, the Georgia Air National Guard, the Georgia State Defense Force, and about 500 state employees.
