The reigning Miss Georgia has announced she's spent years battling eating disorders.

Leighton Jordan, of Suwanee, says she began struggling with an eating disorder after starting ballet at the age of 12. Within two years, Jordan says she developed anorexia and later struggled with bulimia.

Jordan, 20, continues struggling with bulimia and sought help from the Atlanta Center for Eating Disorders.

Jordan says she expects criticism for coming forward, but did so because so many young girls struggle with weight and image issues.
