Georgia Chief Supreme Court Justice Carol W. Hunstein has been honored with the Charles L. Weltner Freedom of Information Award by the Georgia First Amendment Foundation.

Supreme Court Spokesman Jane Hansen says the judge was presented with the award Thursday night by relatives of the late Charles Weltner, who served as the state's 23rd Chief Justice and was an advocate for open government and civil rights.

In a statement, Hunstein says she has been privileged to serve Georgia citizens.
