Macon could take a step Monday toward getting a microbrewery.

The Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a rezoning application Monday afternoon from Macon Beer Co. The request would allow the company to develop a microbrewery in a 7,600-square-foot building in downtown.

A staff report from the zoning commission says the project would help revitalize an area of Oglethorpe Street that has many vacant buildings. The report says Macon Beer Co. will offer tours of the microbrewery and provide free taste samples.
