A well-known daytime TV star is among the featured filmmakers at this weekend’s 8th annual Macon Film Festival, where she’ll be screening the pilot of her new series.
Crystal Chappell directs and stars in "The Grove," a show that puts two twists on the classic soap opera form: it’s web-only, and it starts off at a wedding with two brides.
Chappell may not be a household name, but as a veteran of daytime shows "Days of our Lives," "One Life to Live" and "Guiding Light," she is quite famous among a certain set, said festival organizer Cindy Hill.
"We’re expecting a lot of soap opera fans who are a very buoyant and, um, outspoken and wonderful and enthusiastic crowd," Hill said, laughing.
In addition to showcasing The Grove, Chappell will also give a free workshop on the challenges of working both in front of and behind the camera.
