Board of Regents Chair "Dink" Nesmith and University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby announced on Monday that Jere Moreland is the finalist for the University of Georgia presidency.

Morehead currently serves as the senior vice president for Academic Affairs and provost at UGA. In his current position, the deans of the various schools and colleges report to Morehead, as well as several vice presidents.

Morehead also serves as vice chair of the Georgia Athletic Association Board of Directors, and the vice chair of the UGA Research Foundation. He is also a Trustee of the UGA Foundation and a UGA Real Estate Foundation Trustee.

Morehead is an attorney.

University System spokesman John Millsaps says it is not unheard of to have one finalist for a president's position. The Board of Regents will take final action on the selection of the next president of UGA at a future meeting. Millsaps says a date for that meeting has not yet been set.
