A school administrator in the Floyd County school system has been named superintendent of the northwest Georgia district.

Jeff McDaniel, who has been the district's chief of academics for the past three years, was named superintendent during a school board meeting on Monday.

McDaniel has been with the school system since 2003, and also served as executive director of curriculum and director of school improvement.

McDaniel will replace Lynn Plunkett, who will retire Nov. 30.
