Renovations Planned At Home Of The Masters

Changes could be on the way at the site of the Masters golf tournament, Augusta National Golf Club.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that the club is planning a major renovation and addition to its historic clubhouse.

Plans filed with the city show the club intends to demolish part of the current clubhouse and an adjacent building to clear the way for a new, two-level structure.

Augusta National spokesman Steve Ethun wouldn't provide details, saying the private club doesn't comment on internal projects.

A city licensing official says there have been discussions with club representatives about the project but no plans or permit applications have been filed.

Parts of the clubhouse date to 1854. Plans show original sections of the structure won't be affected.
