Search consultant Bill Funk held a public forum in Athens on Wednesday. In the coming weeks, the 21-person search committee is expected to establish a pool of top candidates to interview privately.
Funk's outline of the search calls for the committee, after those interviews, to select up to five finalists. The Georgia Board of Regents would then choose a successor to Michael Adams, who is retiring next year.
Seven regents already sit on the search committee, along with seven faculty members; representatives of UGA's students, staff, alumni and foundation. A member of Gov. Nathan Deal's Cabinet also holds a seat.
