More than 250,000 Georgia voters cast early ballots ahead of Tuesday's primary elections.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp's office said Friday that 255,787 Georgians voted in-person between the time early voting began July 9 and Thursday. Totals for Friday, the final day to cast ballots before Tuesday's elections, were not immediately available.

Kemp's office says an additional 75,674 Georgia voters have mailed in absentee ballots, bringing the total to 331,461. This was the first election in which Georgians could vote early on Saturday.

On the primary ballots Tuesday are lawmakers in the General Assembly, members of Congress, state utility regulators, prosecutors and judges. Voters will also decide whether to approve a penny sales tax to fund regional transportation projects.
