Governor Nathan Deal announced today the White House is expediting the permit process for deepening the port of Savannah.

Senator Saxby Chambliss says federal permits are expected to come through by November.

Governor Deal:

"We are very pleased that the White House has put us, I believe, on the seven projects that will be given priority for purposes of permitting. And we are told that we should have the record of decision in the not too distant future on that from all the agencies that are required to sign off on it.”

Savannah’s ports dredging is among several federal infrastructure investments to be announced within the upcoming months.
