Fort Stewart Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

A solider from Fort Stewart has been killed in Afghanistan.

The Defense Department said Spc. Bryant J. Luxmore of New Windsor, Ill., died Sunday when he was on patrol with Afghan security forces near Panjwai and was hit by gunfire. The 25-year-old soldier was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart.

He had deployed in March for a nine-month assignment. It was his first deployment. He is survived by a wife and stepson.
