Foreclosure activity around the nation fell last month, with fewer filings from the previous month and the same time last year.

But in Georgia, bank repossessions, auctions and default notices jumped 22 percent from April 2011. And the state still has the fifth highest foreclosure rate in the nation, according to foreclosure tracking firm RealtyTrac.

One in every 398 housing units in the state has a foreclosure filing.

Still, even with the year-over-year bump, foreclosure activity in April dropped almost 10 percent from March.
