The event includes a parade and will recognize workers that constructed the dam.
Access to the Georgia River Recreation Area, fishing pier and Hartwell Dam will be temporarily closed in preparation for the celebrations.
The closure begins at 4 p.m. Thursday and will last through 8 p.m. Friday.
