Gainesville State Names Interim Leader

Officials have named an interim president at Gainesville State College in northeast Georgia.

Randy Pierce was named to the post on Wednesday. Pierce is a past president of Georgia Highlands College.

Pierce begins the new job on July 1. He replaces Martha Nesbitt, who is retiring.

Officials said Pierce will serve as interim president until the consolidation of Gainesville State and North Georgia College & State University takes effect Jan. 1, 2013.
