A Duluth-based technology firm is expanding its Columbus manufacturing operation, bringing with it about 100 new jobs.

National Cash Register Co. executives say the new manufacturing operation will make electronic point-of-sale systems for the retail restaurant and hospitality industry.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports that NCR opened its first Columbus plant in 2009. Rick Marquardt, the company's senior vice president for global operations, says the plant now employs about 500 workers.
