There was a senate hearing Monday on giving drug tests to Georgians on welfare.

Senator John Albers of North Fulton County says requiring welfare recipients to pass a drug test would keep struggling parents away from illegal drugs:

Albers says, "If a family was having a problem where one parent was utilizing illegal drugs it will no way harm the rest of the family and keep them intact."

But the bill was met with much opposition with 15 people signed up to testify against it. They said drug testing does not deter use.
