The best of the best in Georgia high school football clash in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta starting Friday afternoon.

Ten teams playing five games over two days are all seeking to lift the championship trophy for their class.

Longtime sports broadcaster Tommy Palmer said the Class AAA game between Burke County and Peach County will be one of the best of the weekend.

“Burke has got a high-octane offense,” said Palmer, host of the statewide Georgia High School Score Board Radio Show on Friday nights. “They rolled up 500, 600 yards last week and didn’t throw a pass.

And then [in the Class AAAA game], you’ve got Lovejoy that is probably the best defensive team in the state. They’re giving up like five points, eight points a game. Through 14 games, that is unbelievable.”

Several of the teams playing in the weekend’s championships are considered among the best in the nation.

Dallas Jackson, senior analyst for RivalsHigh.com from Yahoo Sports, talks about why his site listed Georgia No. 1 for high school football in its latest annual rankings.
