WORKING: Holiday Jobs

Updated: 3 years ago.
Part-time holiday work can be perfect for college students or recent graduates, for workers looking for extra cash, and for people looking to explore potential new career opportunities, according to career consultant Brandon Smith. (Photo Courtesy of Michael Lokner via Flickr.)

All those shoppers who crammed stores on Black Friday depended on employees to help them find items or ring up their purchases.

Many of those workers are seasonal employees and part-timers looking for extra cash or maybe new opportunities.

Our career and workplace expert Brandon Smith explains how a holiday job can bulk up your resume and unlock new career paths.

Brandon Smith teaches about leadership, communication, and workplace culture at Emory University's Goizueta Business School. More of his advice is on his blog and at theworkplacetherapist.com. And while you’re there, ask him your workplace or career question. We might use your question on a future radio segment.
