Company officials say the largest call center in Augusta is hiring 150 employees and is on pace to return to 900 workers at the site by year's end.

Nashville-based Sitel announced that two new clients have prompted the hiring activity for its Augusta call center.

Phil Madden, company's site director in Augusta, said the facility on Windsor Spring Road facility will be close to capacity with the new employees.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that staffing levels at the call center have been as high as 1,300 in the early 2000s and about 1,000 in 2006.
