Kemp says qualifying for the Nov. 8 election to fill Senate district 28 will open at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning and close at noon Wednesday.
The seat covers Coweta and Heard Counties as well as portions of Carroll and Troup Counties.
The vacancy became open when Gov. Nathan Deal named Republican state Sen. Mitch Seabaugh deputy state treasurer. The election is a non-partisan special election with no party primary.
