Camden QB Does It All

In the GPB game of the week, Norcross’ Alvin Kamara rushed for 225 yards and three scores to help the Blue Devils knock off region rival Mill Creek 41-34. All of the yardage was achieved on just 16 carries. ... Brice Ramsey will be headed to the University of Georgia after next season to play quarterback but he showed off his leg last week in Camden County’s 58-0 victory over Bradwell Institute, kicking a 57-yard field goal and putting five kickoffs into the endzone for touchbacks. ... Kevin Ellison continued to add to his career rushing mark record with 259 yards and four scores in Habersham-Central’s 41-24 victory over Madison County. He also threw for two additional scores. ... Angie Hughes of Union County struck out 14 East Hall batters in the Lady Panthers’ 6-0 victory. Hughes reached 1000 career strikeouts in the complete game victory. ... Colleen Grider managed ten aces for Flowery Branch in a 25-17, 25-16 sweep of South Gwinnett. The Lady Falcons aced the Comets 20 times in the match. ... Buford’s Lexi Overstreet broke two Buford softball records during the Brookwood Invitational, setting the school mark for career RBI and season-mark for doubles. Overstreet posted three doubles in five games at the invitational. ... Overstreet’s teammate Jordan Deep was 5-6 with a home run and four RBI in two games over the weekend. ... Brookwood’s Brandi Jones struck out nine Archer batters while allowing just six hits in a complete game win that helped Brookwood win its second straight Region 8-5A title. ... Kaitlyn Lattimer helped Mill Creek stay undefeated in area play with eleven straight service points in the decisive third set victory against North Gwinnett. She also contributed 50 assists. ... Kelly Murphy had 13 kills for No. 4 Walton in a 27-25, 24-21 sweep of No. 5 Lassiter.
