The state Board of Pardons and Paroles will consider clemency on Monday for Georgia death row inmate Marcus Ray Johnson.

Johnson is scheduled to die by lethal injection next Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson.

Johnson was convicted of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, rape and aggravated battery in Dougherty County in 1998 for the 1994 killing of Angela Sizemore in Albany.

The board is the sole authority in Georgia for granting clemency to inmates. The board may commute a death sentence to life without parole, to life with parole or deny clemency.
