The No. 1 Buford Wolves have won four straight state titles but have lost at least one game each of the last two years. The one loss in 2009? The Lovett Lions upset Buford that year 28-21 to end Buford’s 32-game winning streak. Buford has won 37 straight home games and 55 regular season home games. The two will tango tonight at Tom Riden Stadium on the game of the week. … Mill Creek played last week without quarterback John Russ (concussion) in a 9-7 loss to Mountain View and could be without the senior again tonight against Norcross (GPB-TV game of the week). The Blue Devils will be without Tanner Maloof, but will be looking to continue its unbeaten season. … Banneker faces Lovejoy Saturday in a game that could go a long way to decide the Region 4-AAAA title. … Mountain View will try and pull off another region win with Peachtree Ridge on the schedule. The Lions feature multiple options in the ground game, led by DiAndre Atwater. … Westlake will face Stephenson and the Lions should benefit from a new player. Future Maryland wide receiver AJ Liddell transferred in from Chapel Hill and was just declared eligible last week. … Walton will hit the road to face Etowah as Raider tailback Tyren Jones will face a tall task in Bill Stewart’s 4-3 defense. ... Central Gwinnett will be looking to bounce back from a 63-55 loss to South Gwinnett when the Black Knights host Brookwood. The Broncos are coming off a 21-19 victory over Archer…Collins Hill is looking to snap a two-game losing skid when the Eagles travel to Duluth to face the Wildcats. Duluth may be without Anfernee Stewart who left last week’s game against Norcross with an injury. … GAC will host Blessed Trinity as the Spartans look to move up the rankings. GAC sits No. 3 in the latest Score/GPB poll.
