The city of Valdosta proclaims September 17, 2011 as South Georgia Pride Day.

It’s an effort to take a stand against bullying and hate crimes.

Mayor John Fretti alongside the South Georgia Pride Committee acknowledges that both gay and transgender people are a part of the community.
