Booster Clubs Big To High School Sports

Some of the most successful high school football teams across the state have a secret weapon. And it’s never on the field.

Booster clubs are a big part of life for high school athletics. Often the bigger the support from a club—the greater the success for a team.

In southeast Georgia, the Statesboro High Blue Devils have won five state championships. Their last was in 2005 when one of Mike Rollins’ three sons was a senior on the team.

Rollins was president of the school’s booster club then, and is again this year. He spoke to GPB's Edgar Treiguts.
