Investigators say they will start focusing this week on possible cheating on standardized tests in Dougherty County schools.
The review in Dougherty County is part of a probe ordered by then-Gov. Sonny Perdue that has already documented widespread cheating on standardized tests in Atlanta schools. Gov. Nathan Deal's lead investigator, Richard Hyde, told the Athens Banner-Herald that the Dougherty County phase of the investigation will begin in earnest on Friday.
Former Attorney General Mike Bowers says he met with Dougherty County Schools Superintendent Joshua Murfree and school system attorney Tommy Coleman last week ahead of the upcoming probe.
