The Georgia Bureau of Investigation may pursue criminal charges after a fight at the Eastman Youth Development Campus Saturday left one youth severely injured.

Some of the young people involved could be charged.

Todd Lowery of the GBI says the Department of Juvenile Justice requested assistance with the case:

"In a situation like this where we know criminal charges will be brought against the perpetrators for those crimes then it’s not uncommon for them to call us for assistance in the case because we will be the ones taking the case to the district attorney for prosecution."

No arrests have been made yet, as the charges depend on whether the injured youth recovers.

The Eastman facility currently houses 180 teenage offenders.
