The referendum on Nov. 8 applies only to package sales of malt beverages and wine. Liquor can be purchased in the county only in restaurants with a license to pour.
A similar referendum will appear on ballots the same day in the city of Statesboro.
The city council also decided on Wednesday that voters in Statesboro also will choose on Nov. 8 whether to permit alcohol sales by the drink in restaurants after 1 p.m. on Sundays.
