Following a bitter race, Sue Everhart has been re-elected to a third term as the Chair of the Georgia Republican Party. Her victory comes despite the fact that Governor Nathan Deal supported her challenger Tricia Pridemore. Pridemore was a volunteer in Deal's campaign. Governor Deal was loudly booed today when he gave a speech and expressed his public support for Pridemore.

The final vote tally was 946 for Everhart and 755 for Pridemore.

Two other candidates ran including Shawn Hanley and Carter Kessler, who nominated himself at the last minute. Kessler received just over 1-percent of the vote. Shawn Hanley stepped down after the first round of voting in order to avoid a third round of balloting.
